Traffic Usage
Why is Novus limiting my monthly traffic?
Only a small portion of our customers exceed our limits. Charging those who exceed their limit helps us to keep the cost of our service low, as well as ensuring the delivery of a consistant and high quality connection to all of our customers.
How do I know how much traffic I have used this month?
To check your traffic usage and usage history, please refer to the
"Traffic Usage" section of the online support page.
Do I receive any notification when I approach the limit?
You will receive email notification when you reach 80% of your monthly traffic limit. An email will be sent to your Novus primary email account.
Why does Novus separate the traffic limit for upload and download?
Novus limits upload and download traffic separately as a benefit to our customers. Most companies combine these totals, and as a result, users reach their limit faster. Novus separates upload and download traffic limits and in essence, doubles your traffic limit. For example, with a Net10 package, instead of the traffic limit being a combined 110 GB, you can use up to 110 GB for both uploading and downloading, as long as you don't exceed the usage for either.
How does Novus know my usage?
Novus keeps track of your usage based on the MAC addresses registered under your account. To check what MAC Addresses are registered under your account, please refer to the
"MAC Address Management".
What is a MAC Address?
A Media Access Control address is a unique identifier for any network hardware device such as your computer's network card or your router. It is also referred to as a Physical Address.
I have reached my monthly limit. What Can I do?
You can do one or more of the following:
- Upgrade your package to one that has a higher traffic limit.
- Purchase additional traffic for full speed of service.
- Contact Novus to set-up automatic billing for over usage.
- Continue using the Internet with limited bandwidth.
Can I carry over usage from one month to the next?
Unused usage cannot be carried over. Your usage allowance is based on the package you have and applies to each month. The usage limit is then reset at the start of each month.
If I have a SOHO package, will I still get redirected once I reaced the limit?
We understand businesses cannot afford to have their service disabled, therefore, none of our SOHO customers will get redirected. Instead, they will get charged automatically for any over usage at the end of each month.
Will my Novus Digital Phone service also be blocked when I reach my limit?
Your Novus Digital Phone will not be impacted by this limit.
I must have an Internet service without any interruption. Is this feature available?
You can either upgrade your package so that you have sufficient traffic for the month or you can make arrangements with Novus to be billed automatically for any over usage without being redirected.
